Sesame Place Trip

on

This year for Christmas we decided to gift the kids with memories and experiences instead of a load of presents that won’t be used in a few months. Sesame Place seemed to be a great place to attend, especially since all of the kids still love watching Sesame Street.

After spending Christmas in North Carolina, we were a bit drained with traveling, but on Dec. 30th we pressed through our exhaustion and drove 3 hours to Lancaster, PA. The car was loaded with snacks, hats, gloves and blankets. I wasn’t too excited about walking around an amusement park in 40 degree weather, but I can say it was worth it. As a side note I was so pleased to know Sesame Place allowed us to bring snacks and sandwiches in the park. It saved us so much money. Six Flags only allows water.

As a family we love going to amusement parks. Since living in MD we venture to Six Flags at least once in the summer. It is only about 40 minutes from our home. But now, after a few years, Six Flags is a bit played out. Another side note: Read to Succeed partners with Six Flag Parks to give public and Home schooled families free tickets to children who read 6 hours . You can sign up here starting March 1st. Hence me saying we go once in the summer…it’s free!

Sesame Place on the other hand was a breath of fresh air. All of the rides, shows and even the parade kept us busy and warm (for the most part). We even indulged in cute souvenir cups of warm hot chocolate and a yummy funnel cake.  We got there shortly after opening and left at 8:15 when they closed.

I enjoyed the fact that all of the rides were kid centered. Most, if not all my children could ride alone. Even my 2 1/2 year old daughter wanted to get on all the rides! A downside is that for a child as young as my daughter, a parent must ride. Now for someone without hips and a fairly large butt this might be ok ( I am proud of those features by the way). But I can definitely say I had to SQUEEZE into some of these seats so my daughter could ride! If we are going to be required to ride, they need to realize that parents come in all shapes and sizes!

I don’t think I was breathing on this ride! Tight fit!

Going to Sesame place in December means you are surrounded by twinkling lights, trees and Christmas music. Our family loves the Christmas season. “A Very Furry Christmas” is the theme of the season. There is even 2 special holiday parades down Sesame Street. The kids got to see and take pictures with some of their favorite characters.

Now, because we went in December, what they consider “off season”, we paid the discounted price of $32.  However, during the “peak” summer season, prices are $60+. Hubby and I agreed that we would’t pay $60  for that size of an amusement park, but we would during any off season.

Overall we left Sesame Place filled with joy and laughter. All of the children really enjoyed! I would say this Christmas gift was a hit.

The highlight of our night happened during evening parade. Tully the character was an animated dancer to say the least. When he came up to my hubby he asked Tully to break down a dance. Here is the video for your viewing pleasure! Believe me this is only a snippet he was really getting down!

If you have children between the ages of 1-10 I think Sesame Place is worth the investment.
